Uwajimaya Day and Hooker Night

Yesterday (Saturday) Carrie, Devon, & I went to the Uwajimaya store in Seattle. That's always a fun place to go. Carrie got some of her great wrapping paper, and we got shrimp crackers and fun stuff like that.

Fools Play was Debut Night, which was kinda stressful as we hadn't done any of those things on stage before. But there were a lot of people in the audience, and they all seemed to dig it, especially during the "Jingles" portion of the show. Man-o-man one girl turned bright red (I pointed it out of course).

There was this older (late 30s) couple there that didn't seem to get as into it as our younger crowd, but apparently before the show they were asking Taisha a lot of questions about whether or not we were attractive men and if she was dating any of us and weird stuff like that. I dunno. After the show we went to Red Robin for a while and I ate off of Taisha's fries on account of not having any moneys.

I came home to find that Carrie hadn't locked any of the doors when she left the house (boo). She of course wasn't home because she was out at Cat's bachelorette party. So I hemmed and hawed and finally decided on watching The 5th Element in bed while I waited for her. She called around 2:45 in the a.m. (right during the big fight scene on Phloston Paradise), and I went and picked her up at the Shari's on Union Ave. It was fun to walk in and see everybody dressed up like hookers. Oh, didn't I mention that? Yes, Cat's theme for her bachelorette party was "Hooker Night."

Then I took a drunky Carrie home and put her to bed (with me).

A fun way to spend a Friday night with three great gals

Yesterday was a sleepy time. I woke up at a reasonable hour, started eating my breakfast of sushi from Trader Joe's, and was flipping through the Comcast cable guide. I noticed that The Bourne Identity was about to start on Encore. "Hmm," I thought. "Julia Stiles is in that movie. She's one of Carrie's favorite actresses. I wonder what the film's like."

So I flipped it on, and needless to say she isn't in the first 35 minutes of the film, and when she does appear her scene lasts all of about 45 seconds. She keeps popping up here and there throughout the film to deliver a line or two and then disappear, but the climax does happen at her place, so that's something. She'll be in the next Bourne movie as well I learned from going to IMDB. Not that I think this movie warrants another one. It wasn't really all that great. The Run Lola Run girl was in it, and looked a hell of a lot like Claire Danes. Weird.

Anyway, I picked a split-shifting Carrie up from work and we went to the bank to deposit some checks of hers and then had lunch at Rosewood Cafe. They had this kickass "Cheddar Beer Chowder" that we both had a bowl of. It tasted kinda like Welsh Rarebit, but brothy instead of thick. And it had carrots and celery in it. Mmm-mmm good.

When we came home we kinda fell asleep for a long while. Eventually I went and took the car to Jiffy Lube to get the oil changed and new wipers and whatever else needed to be done on it done. That took about an hour, and it was after 5:00 when I got back. We had frozen microwavables for dinner (pizza for her, hot pockets for me), and then I took her back to the store so she could teach Tic-Tac-Toe Bracelet.

When I got back home I put a call in to Neighbor Gary and left a message on his phone to see what he was up to, if he wanted to grab a beer or something. I then called Steph because she had called me earlier in the day about the Tensile Dance stuff. She wasn't home when I called because she was Carrie's closer at the store. Katie was home, though. Here's basically how our conversation went:

"Yeah, I was just calling because Steph called me earlier about Tensile Dance stuff."

"Oh, yeah, she's not home. She has to work until 10:30 tonight."

"10:30!? Yowzah! So what are you up to tonight?"

"I'm sitting at home drinking a Cider Jack. Me and my exciting life."

"You wanna do something? We should hang out more anyway."

"I really wanna see a movie, but nobody has time to see any."

"I'll see a movie with you!"

So we ended up settling on Miracle at 8:30. I was to pick her up at 8:00 on account of her car being broken. Well, a little bit before I was going to leave I got a call from Brandy who wanted me to come by her place and see it now that it was more setup. So I swung by there for a little bit to congratulate her on having an apartment, then went and picked up Katie and saw a movie with her. I had forgotten to bring any money, though, so afterwards we came back to the house and I dug out some money, then I drove her home, then came back to bed with Carrie. We had some problems falling asleep for some reason. I had a headache; Carrie was in that "Too Tired to Sleep" mode. We ended up playing a game of Skip-Bo before cuddling to sleep. 'Twas a fun way to spend a Friday night, with three great gals.

Panamonicas

Yesterday (Thursday) evening Carrie & I made two giant steaks for dinner, then we went over to Brandy's new apartment to help her move. By the time we got there, though, all that needed to be carried in was a box and some piles of clothes. Oh, well.

Afterwards we went to Krissy's cute-assed apartment for Margaritas, then headed down to her space: Panamonicas.

Holy God. It is just awe inspiring.

And freakin' HUGE! I thought those two steaks were giant, but this is going to be the coolest hangout place EVER. I'm so excited for it now.

Then it was home and Skip-Bo and funtimes for all.

Whoops!

Yesterday (Monday) Carrie & I had a devil of a time getting out of bed. We think it's because it's hard to get out of bed when someone is still in it. She drove to work and I worked at home until sometime after 1:00 there was a furious knocking on the door. This time it was Carrie, saying that the wipers on the Ford had stopped working and that she needed me to drive her to the bank. Except that it was Presidents' Day, so the bank wasn't even open when we got there. Whoops!

Anyway, I took her back to work then came back home and worked. Then around 5:00 I went to pick her up but she wasn't quite ready to go yet, so I hung out with Linnea in the store and ate Melissa's office chocolates for a while until Carrie was ready.

Kind of a frustrating evening in that I had an exciting job offer that was ripped away within a few minutes of it being offered. That upset me a great deal.

I had a lot of work to do, so kept working through the evening. We eventually ordered pizzas for dinner. Gary cancelled on rasslin', so I watched it in between working, and finally was ready for bed around midnight.

Bizzarre!

Yesterday (Sunday) was a lazy, lazy day. Carrie & I lounged in bed for most of the morning. I had some work to do in the afternoon so I did it. There wasn't any practice on account of Geoff and I were the only ones who could possibly make it. So around 4:00 Geoff came by and dropped off my wallet (which I had left accidentally with him in Olympia) and we talked briefly about improv stuff and then watched some G.I. Joe public service announcements. I hadn't seen them before, but I'd heard of them. Very funny. Sometime around this time Carrie decided to actually get dressed (rather than just wearing a robe).

For dinner I took Carrie to the Wild Orchid restaurant right next to The Bead Factory. The food was very good (Carrie said it might have been the best red curry she'd ever had), but the service was strange. They have this habit of bringing out the food when it's prepared, and not all at once. So carrie got her entree a good five minutes before I got mine, so she had to just sit there and look at it unitl mine came. This could be frustrating with a larger party if you have to sit there and wait with your food on the table. I don't see why they just don't keep it in the back until ALL the entrees are ready. Bizzarre.

Happy Valentine's Day (Every Day the 14th)!

Yesterday (Saturday) was Valentine's day, so here's what I did to prove I'm the best boy in the history of ever.

First of all I drove up to Metropolitan Market but didn't find what I was looking for, so headed on down to Fred Meyer and happened to find it there. How convenient. I then went home and... prepared. Around 1:00 I drove up to The Bead Factory with my preparations completed. I walked in through the back and proceeded to give Krissy and Lindsay each a red rose with a card tied to it, and a small heart-shaped box of chocolate. They both gave me big hugs and said that—for some reason—I was the first person to give them Valentines all day! What the f--k? These are some of the most beautiful and wonderful women in the world and nobody's given them anything yet?

Anyway, I hopped up to ArtCo and bought some construction paper before swinging back by The Bead Factory where Nicole, Christine, and Gretchen were now also working. I gave them all the rose with card and candy, and they all also told me that I was the only one that had given them anything so far. What is wrong with people? Oh, well, it made me look even better.

I then went home and made cute-assed valentines out of the construction paper before putting the finishing touches on my gift to Carrie (I fixed up the tub with all these cute bath things and candles and a CD player and awesomeness) and gathering up all the stuff I needed for the Fools Play Valentine's Day Special.

It was a really funny show. I was playing for a date with Hannah, but my brother won the date. We were gonna film it and then show it on the TV, but for some reason they couldn't get the video camera to work. So I had lugged down a VCR and a TV for nothing. In the meantime, though, we all drew pictures of our "crushes." Geoff drew Brandy without looking at the paper. Tannerman drew Leah as "what he pictured when he thought of her," which turned out to be a girl in a bikini with a snake for an arm. I drew a really good comic-bookish portrait of Hannah, then exclaimed that I messed it up and proceeded to draw a more accurate drawing of an EBE on an asteroid with his UFO in the background.

After the show I gave Hannah a rose and a card as a consolation prize. I actually gave a rose to almost every single girl in the audience, and my handmade cards to Brandy and Taisha. I made one for Sandy, but she didn't show for some reason. Hmmm...

Anyway, I didn't stick around too long after the show because I had to rush home and straight into the arms of Carrie, and then never you mind.

Cannot wait

My madre came over around 10:00 in the morning to help me with her giant van. We went down to the Big K and I finally bought myself my pretty corner desk. The Big K Ladies stuffed it in the van, and then me and mammon went over to The Bead Factory because she hadn't yet been to the new location. Pretty funny. She was ooh-ing and aah-ing everything.

We went to an early lunch (so I guess kinda brunch) at the Antique Sandwich Company. I had a Po' Boy. She had an avacado/sprouts/tomato/cheese sammitch. Um-mum tastee. Afterwards we came back to my place and wrangled the big ol' desk box out of the van, across the gravel and grass, up the stairs and inside. We had do "walk" it most of the way. Then I made us some tea and we relaxed a bit before she left. It was a fun time with me momma.

Then I got to work putting the desk together. Quite a fun process! I watched Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai while I worked, and then some bad anime movie (with high production values and a for-me-to-poop-on script). It looks really good in the corner there. Oh, I forgot to mention this yesterday, but on Thursday I also got the Lost in Translation poster featuring Scarlett with the dinosaur walking across the building in the background. It looks really good above my new desk. I put Unicron in the honored position of directly above the monitor.

Anyway, I was just about to make myself some dinner (i.e., eat more of that sauce I made on Thursday) when there was a flurry of knocking on the door. I flung it open and it was Brandy, who told me the news that she got an apartment up by Stadium High School (pretty close to the house). She was very excited and wanted to tell someone right away, and I just happen to live close to the Bead Factory. To celebrate this news we went and bought valentines at Target. I bough Incredible Hulk valentines. She bought Hello Kitty and Powerpuff Girls. I also bought a bag of Sweethearts (for Fools Play).

We went to the Bead Factory to get some leftovers she left there, then she left for Olympia and I stayed and hung out with Steph and Leilani at the BF. I saw Carrie's friend Lisa there—she was taking Krissy's Duchess Necklace class. Hadn't seen her in a while, and she looked great (as always).

Carrie called as I was about to leave, so I drove on home and then talked to her for a while. I watched that Dweezil & Lisa show on The Food Network. They're so freakin' cute. And plus we got to hear Lisa record a new song for her new album, so that was nice and nice. I cleaned up a little more and then just curled up on the couch and went to sleep with the knowledge that the very next day I would be seeing my Carrie again.

Such sweet, sweete sauce

Yesterday (Thursday) I woke up like an hour later than I wanted to, so I was pretty much an hour behind all day. As I was dropping my tapes off I was called by Carrie, who asked me to transfer some monies to her account, so I headed to Fred Meyer after the drop box. When I got home I started making a kickass tomato sauce with mushrooms, ground beef, and garlic. As it was simmering I got a phone call from Brandy at the Bead Factory asking if she could come over and take a nap on my couch—she wasn't feeling very well and didn't want to have to drive all the way to Olympia. So I said she could and she did. She also brought me them pants from Geoff that I mentioned earlier (he'd wanted to bring them to me but I wasn't home so he left them at The Bead Factory with Brandy). When she woke up we put on Intolerable Cruelty and she ate a banana and some Ibuprofen, and after the fine, fine film was feeling fine enough to head on home.

I called Carrie again later in the evening and when she called me back she was a little bit toshed on margaritas. She's so cute. She comes back tomorrow (Saturday), and you cannot believe how sexcited I am. I spent most of the evening cleaning the bathroom. That's not so much of the fun. I put on Army of Darkness (theatrical version) to sleep to (after watching parts of Cutthroat Island and that horrible thing called Alien Fury: Countdown to Invasion starring Chyna).

Falling through

Yesterday (Wednesday) I took a walk down to The Bead Factory in the morning right as it opened and hung out with the ladies there for a while. Around noonish I went on a rather fruitless shopping spree. I did wind up getting Intolerable Cruelty, however. Mmmm... good movie. In the afternoon I did some fruitless surgery on my computers to no avail.

All my plans for the day fell through, so in the evening I just headed back to The Bead Factory before it closed and hung out with Nicole and Linnea (and Gretchen, who would periodically pop out from the class she was taking). I told them the funny story about Erin Arntz that happend on Tuesday. Then I came home and watched Angel, then did some vast/fast cleaning of the living/dining room area, then put on Intolerable Cruelty and went to sleep. I had some sort of an agorophobic nightmare during the night, and woke up all alone.

Not exactly a fun day.

But Geoff called and said he's giving me a pair of (really cool) pants. So that's all good, baby!

Visiting work

I actually was able to stay awake all the live-long day yesterday (Tuesday). I got up early to do tapes. Noontime I drove up to the box in Fife, then continued on to Federal Way, where I stopped by Marlene's Market & Deli to say hi to Mathias, Sandy, and Mariah. That was interesting to see them at work. Sandy told me about a dream that she had that was all Buffy-style and even had Spike and Angel in it at one point.

After that I hopped over to my old Hallmark store to pick up some Valentine's Day supplies. I only knew two of the girls there, Erin Arntz and Erica. When Erin saw me she said, "Hey, Chris, I have a funny story for you!"

About three years ago I invited Missy and Erin and that girl who's name I can't remember over for one of my birthday parties, the first one in the apartment. They all showed up, but Missy was kinda sick due to being preggers and all. So Erin took her home kind of early. Well, to put it in Erin's own words: "I met my husband that night!"

"What?" I said. "Not at the party, though, right?"

"No, no," she said. "After the party."

So it seems that if she hadn't ever come to my birthday party she would have never met the man she ended up marrying. So I told her that I was engaged and told the whole story and everything and she was duly impressed, and brought over Erica so I could tell her, too.

I swung by Trader Joe's on the way home for some extra supplies, then swung by the box to get some more tapes.

For dinner I went over to Carrie's folks' house. It was just me and my future in-laws. It was actually kinda fun. Felt a little like family. I brought over wine and Jim cooked salmon and vegetables and made a gigantic Caesar salad (out of which I got to eat ALL the croutons). I brought over a handful of DVDs in case they wanted to watch one after dinner, and they chose Lost in Translation. So now I've seen it three times just in the week since I bought it. They didn't like it quite as much, but then again they kept on dozing off (especially Jim).

I came home and worked on tapes some more, then tried to sleep on the couch but couldn't, so I moved to the bed and put on Pirates. That helped a little, but the bed feels awfully uncomfortable to me now.

Crash into me

Apparently I didn't sleep very well Sunday night, because yesterday (Monday) I woke up and worked on my tapes until about 9:00, then went to the couch and completely crashed until almost 2:00 in the afternoon. Yowza, yow-dow! I basically stayed in and did tapes, a new ANGRY BEEF Sighting, some dishes, made the bed, etc. Boring.

Neighbor Gary came over for Rasslin' in the evening as is his habit. Afterwards I went to bed on the couch (hoping to get a better night's sleep) while putting on Pirates of the Carribean: The Curse of the Black Pearl and listening to Gore Verbinski and Johnny Depp talk about making the film. Apparently it was an insane shoot with absolutely nothing going right, and the mantra was "We'll fix it later."

How on Earth?

He walked into the office and almost instinctively reached over Carrie's desk for the light switch before realizing that the lights were actually on. It was simply darker than it should have been. Looking up he noticed that one of the bulbs in the overhead fixture was out.

No. Not out. Missing completely.

He froze in mid-step, his shoeless right foot hovering dangerously only inches above a jagged piece of broken bulb. "Jesus Christ!"

A close look above showed him that the base of the bulb was still screwed into the fixture. Something had caused the glass itslef to snap off and fall, and now here it lay in three pieces on the gray, low-pile carpet. He glanced at the cat, who raised one eyelid and looked back from its perch atop the computer monitor before stretching its paws and curling its back to him.

He knelt and retrieved the three pieces from the floor, carefully holding them together to make sure that they formed a complete bulb so that there weren't any more fragments lurking about. As he deposited them in the trash bag images of a light bulb spontaneously shattering flitted through his mind.

How on Earth did that happen?

I did very little

Yesterday (Sunday) I did very little. I went to practice in the aprez-noon. We figured out some fun stuff, like how we don't allow our premises to be pre-determined. Anyhoo, after practice I stopped by a Big K to eye some desks I'd like to get, then went home and basically fell asleep on the couch. Seriously. I woke up a couple of times when peeps called on the telephones, then finally around 10:45 I went into the bedroom. I watched Home Movies and Space Ghost: C2C. Space Ghost's special guest was Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, and they said "rammed up the ass" more times than I thought possible on a 15-minute show. Moltar also actually said "shit" on the air. Great very funny episode.

I actually had some trouble sleeping alone in the bed and actually contemplated coming back out to the couch, but eventually I did fall asleep.

Social butterfly

I woke up later than I wanted to on Friday and had to quickly finish up and email in my tapes. Then I spent a goodly portion of the day doing laundry. Washing, drying, and putting it away. Around dinnertime I got a call from Carrie's mom seeing if I was up to anything for dinner (I wasn't). So we met down at Enginehouse #9 (I just walked the five blocks). The two of us had never actually just hung out alone before, so it was kinda interesting. She's a lot like my grandma.

Afterwards I walked the two blocks up to The Bead Factory and hung out with Steph there for a while while she helped a woman design her wedding jewelry. Krissy was teaching class and came out at one point to give me a big hug and thank me for making such a wonderful handout for her class. Tee-hee! Steph invited me over to her place after she got off of work to watch a movie. I suggested Lost in Translation, which she hadn't yet seen. So I went home and did some more laundry and played some of that Hobbit video game I'm borrowing from Neighbor Gary. Steph called when she got home from work, and I brought the movie down there and watched it with her and her roommate Katie. Then around 12:30 I went home and slept on the couch again because I was in the process of washing all of the bedding and didn't wish to sleep on the bed without it.

On Saturday morning Brandy popped by and neither one of us had eaten breakfast yet, so we went to The Hobbnob where I had eggs benedict and she had an Italian scramble thingy. I got to take home her leftovers. Afterwards we hung out with Geoff while he was buying new clothes at J.C. Penny's (I ended up buying a $32 shirt that was on sale for $8). Then the three of us wandered around the mall, and Geoff bought me a poster frame at Suncoast 'cause he'd never gotten me a Christmas present. Brandy tried on some stuff in various stores but didn't actually buy anything on account of not having enough money until payday next week. Afterwards we went to Red Robin and shared a milkshake, then all three of us went back to our respective homes and separately took naps. I woke up later than I wanted to and had to scramble to get ready for Fools Play.

It was just me, Mike (blue) and Geoff. It was a very unusual show in that the audience was comprised of almost entirely newcomers, so the show had a very different vibe. It was like we were teaching the audience our style of humor instead of just delving into it for the regulars. It was a fun but very strange show.

Afterwards I came home alone and put all the bedding back on the bed (finally) before deciding that I really didn't want to sleep in it alone, so went back to the couch with the extended Fellowship of the Ring playing the cast's commentary and was asleep in now time.

Back in the habit (not a nun's)

It's hard for me to get back in this whole blog habit. Anyway, on Wednesday I went to the Parkway to have the "finalizing" meeting with the Tensile Dance gang. I got there at 9:30 but didn't end up leaving until like 12:30 a.m. on account of now that Carrie is in Tucson I didn't really have any reason to come home. I kinda had trouble sleeping, too, so I put on Appendix Four of the extended Two Towers.

Last night (Thursday) I went up to Espinoza and hung out up there with Ed, Sandy, Mathias, and their friends Chris & Amy. Chris is pretty cool (oh, and that other one, too). We sang a duet of "Hey, Let's Go," the opening theme song from My Neighbor Totoro. We then watched Unico in the Island of Magic, which I'd seen before but only kinda half-assed. We actually used footage from the climax in the "apocalypse" footage from the "dark angel" part of "The Worst Sketch in the World." Man-o-man that is Unico a dark, scary kid's movie (from Sanrio). It has one of the best movie villains of all time, though, I swears it. It was actually written by the legendary Osamu Tezuka, the creator of Astro Boy (and the manga upon which the recent Metropolis was based). It is also apparently horrendously rare (despite my brother having a copy), so Chris & Amy had to put down like a $150 deposit just to rent the thang from Scarecrow. Ridiculous!

Then afterewards we watched, um, I can't remember what it's called or who made it, but an anime series about people with wings living in a walled-in town that no one can ever leave. Here, I looked it up. It's called Haibane Renme. It reminded me a lot of Hard-Boiled Wonderland and The End of the World: A Novel. Tanner and Geoff showed up around this time as well.

Once again I stayed out late seeing as how I had nothing really to come home to, and I likes haning out at Espinoza a lot. I had been doing butt-loads of cleaning and laundry during the day, so the bed was all covered in clothes that needed to be A) washed or B) put away, so I just grabbed the afghan that Missa made and slept on the couch while watching Bruce Campbell vs Army of Darkness: Boomstick Edition (the director's cut disc).

TP for Me

Yesterday (Monday) we practically ran out of toilet painter so I had to scrounge around the house to find any remnants of unused TP we could utilize. When I dropped off my tapes I swung by Fred Myer and bought some much needed TP and garbage bags, as well as many hot pockets for to eat while Carrie is in Tucson.

Carrie had a split shift, so we kinda hung out all afternoon, playing Mario Kart and whatnot. Neighbor Gary came over for rasslin' in the evening and brought over The Hobbit Gamecube game, so I'm interested in giving that a spin in my machine. Carrie came home with a bunch of Taco Bell, and after Gary left we played Mario Kart in the bedroom. Not in a kinky way.

Happy birthday to... Hello? Oh, hi !!

Yesterday (Sunday) was a day full of birthdays. In the morning Carrie & I went to Trader Joe's, then swung by my tape box on the way home (no rushes--yay). Then it was time to wrap presents, and wrap them we did. Oh, yes. Carrie is becoming the Kat O'Donahue of gift wrapping. Well, gift decorating. I'm still the bestest at the actual, professional-style wrapping.

Just after noonish we went to Chuck E. Cheese's for the twins' birthday party. It was fun, although for some reason they got rid of all but one of their skiball (sp) ramps. That's f-ed up, man! I offered to return Julian's present (Yugio cards) if he didn't like it, and he shouted out, "Are you kidding!? I LOVE it!" So that's pretty good. Hey, I even got to hug Chuck himself! Plus we got to take home more than half a chotlate tate made by Lorraine (whom we want to make our wedding cake). Chotlate tate is always the num-numos.

I got home and worked on me tapes. Carrie had to go back to the store around 4:00 to help Devon with Tucson prep. She called me about an hour and a half later and said she was coming home, and I walked down the street and met her about halfway, then walked back home with her.

Then around 7:30 it was time for a Bead Factory birthday party for Christine, Steph, and Gretchen. These are always a lots of fun. It was at Jazzbones, this neat club that I'd never actually been inside before. Everyone liked what Carrie & I got them. Plus, Jazzbones is within walking distance, which kicks so much ass because we didn't have to worry about cars or anything.

When we got home I still had like a half-hour of tape to do, then we went right to bed even though it was only like ten-something. But we had chotlate tate and Mario Kart in bed, so that's okay, right?

Plus—very sexciting—on Saturday as we were shopping for the twins, Carrie got me my own very own cellular phone! That's right, folks, I have joined the new millennium. If I haven't given you my new phone number yet, drop me a line and let me know.
