Here I posit a question: Are the best movies necessarily the most watchable movies? Or are “favorite” movies and those movies that can be watched again and again of two distinct categories? I will now investigate to see what the answer is. Come with me, won’t you?

Good one. I agree with your analysis, though not necessarily all of your movie choices. BTILC is great fun though. Many factors make a movie a favourite. I have some thati love which are technically brilliant, thought provoking, exciting, fun, or linked to some phase of my development. But there is just one movie I watch over and over again. It is not the best movie in most senses of the word. The plot is flawed, the acting varies from brilliant to so-so, the dialogue has some very wooden lines. yet i watch it more often than any three other films combined. What makes it the one I watch most is simply that it cheers me up and reaffirms my simple faith in happy endings. Stardust. My movie of choice, when i can’t ecide.
Cheers!
