Where Was the Word? New Julia Massey + FFD Official Video

Never Enough Julias!

Never Enough Julias!

It’s a green-screened, multi-headed sonic adventure, as JM+FFD are layered and re-layered and cross-faded and layered over each other (and themselves) some more! There’s also a charming, fourth-wall-breaking moment where you get to see Julia struggling to get Matt properly green-screened:

Get 'im screened, Julia!

Get ‘im screened, Julia!

Anyhoo, enough from me; watch the new video here:

The new album, HeartTones, is being released in January! They’re having the Album Release Party at The Crocodile on January 12th at 8:00 PM (get tickets here). I’ll see you there!

Many Masks.

I’ll see ALL of you.

My Famous Friends Are at Jet City Comic Show This Weekend!

Fall into "The Abyss"

Fall into “The Abyss”

The Abyss

First off, I’m super excited that two of my Fools Play colleagues, Andre the Crimson Fool and Laramie the Olive Fool, have published a (bizarre) book called “The Abyss.” They’re exhibiting it at JCCS right now!

Creator’s Edge Press

My pal Travis runs a comic book company! Go check out this Creator’s Edge Press booth and pick up some awexome indie comix like “Billy Love Nibbles” or “Prince of Pieces.”

Jet City Woman?

Jet City Woman?

Junior Braves of the Apocalypse

A former fool (Mike the Green Fool) and his friend Greg wrote a comic book last year that got published by Oni Press (the same company that published “Scott Pilgrim”). Greg is exhibiting it!

Sweetgyrl Designs

Greg’s wife Anne runs Sweetgyrl Designs, which offers awexome pop-culture tchotchkes. All the retro 80’s stuff you’ve been looking for, handmade and vintage! This year it looks like the booth has a “Stranger Things” vibe to it!

Sometimes I’m amazed at how my life is just filled with artists of all sorts. Anyway, head to the Greater Tacoma Convention Center (map) this weekend to attend Jet City Comic Show!

“Of the Month” November 2016

Movie of the Month:
The Little Prince

A very beautiful film, and an excellent blend of different animation techniques. It tells not only (most of) the story of the original Le Petit Prince novella, but it also creates a framing story and in a weird way a sequel. A surprisingly delightful and very moving and mature story about the joys of childhood, dealing with loss, and the importance of memory.

Show of the Month:
Other Space

Imagine if some of the creators of Mystery Science Theater 3000 decided to make a wacky sci-fi sitcom, and the picture in your brain would probably look a lot like Other Space. And that’s no coincidence, since both Joel Hodgson (Joel of MST3K) and Trace Beaulieu (Crow & Dr. Forrester of MST3K) are involved in Other Space. It also has excellent comedic performances from Milana Vayntrub (best known as Lily in those AT&T commercials) and Karan Soni, best known as cabbie Dopinder from Deadpool. Other Space is about a bunch of incompetent weirdos trapped in a parallel universe. Unfortunately it is only 8 episodes long and more episodes look unlikely.

Instagrammer of the Month:
Taste of Streep

Take photos of Meryls Streep. Use uncanny skill to combine them seamlessly with photos of food. Voila: Taste of Streep. It makes me laugh a lot.

Julia Massey Returns (With Special Guest Chris Blount)

Those aren't Spirit Fingers... THESE are Spirit Fingers!

Those aren’t Spirit Fingers… THESE are Spirit Fingers!

Almost two years to the date after releasing their previous music video (for a song that was written about my daughter, no biggie), Julia Massey and the Five Finger Discount have returned with a brand-new video for a song that hasn’t even been released yet!

It’s for “This Is How We’re Gonna Say Goodbye,” which will be (I assume) on their next album. What next album? Oh, the one called HeartTones that is going to be released in January!

And this video also features a very good friend of mine, hip-hopster extraordinaire Chris Blount! Ch-ch-check it out here:

GOOD STUFF YES. Interesting note: this isn’t the first time that Julia and Chris have been in the same song together. They actually both recorded parts for the song I wrote for my daughter’s first birthday (which was almost exactly two years ago—early November is a good time for musics I guess).

Now, about that new album: There’s going to be an album release show on January 12th at The Crocodile in Seattle. You’d best believe that Carrie & I already have our tickets for it. BEST BELIEVE!
