World peace in the palm of his hand…?
I really, really wanted to like this movie more than I do/did. It has soooo much going for it, and yet for some reason or other it never coalesces into an actually good movie. [Read my full review]

He’s harmless. Honest!
I enjoyed this movie quite a bit more than I thought I would. Carrie had a much more visceral emotional response to it than I did, though. She calls it “The Suki Dragon Movie” because the main dragon in the film reminds her so much of our dog Suki. [Read my full review]

I see you, baby, shakin’ that thang
Avatar is a beautiful, stunning film. It is an engrossing epic, a virtuoso action flick, a technical marvel. It is full of wonder and thrills and heartaches and triumphs. It is an incredible movie. If only someone other than James Cameron had written the dialogue. [Read my full review]

Partly metal, partly real…
It has all the makings of a fun time: a sci-fi premise, Bruce Willis, and a dastardly mystery involving the fate of the whole world. But it never really takes off. It’s all just kinda there. Just kinda, y’know, “Meh.” [Read my full review]

Where my Wild Things at?
One adjective always comes to mind when I think about Spike Jonze’s adaptation of Where the Wild Things Are: Thoughtful. This is a very thoughtful film. [Read my full review]
