This weekend whilst Carrie was out of town (to canada with Missa’s annual family vacation) I went ahead and hauled out all of my etched glassware and took photos of about 90% of it. I then took those photos and used them to post the items on our Etsy Store!

I’d actually made a 40-cent version of one of those really expensive “light boxes.” I took a cardboard box, flipped it on its side so that the open flaps were now the front of the box. Then I cut out the roof and the two sides, leaving the back. I taped white tissue paper to the cut-out parts and then taped a piece of plain white wrapping paper to the back and floor.

Problem was, the etchings were way too subtle to show up on the plain white background. Like taking a picture of a snowball in a blizzard. I discovered they work much better with natural lighting and a darker background, like, say, my backyard:

See? Clear as can be!

So I posted about half a dozen glasses on the Etsy store and am going to post many more as the week goes on. I also added a little widget to my blog here. Look at the bottom of the right-hand column there →

See? It shows a couple of things from our Etsy site! Well, I think it’s pretty neat at any rate. Now I just have to sit Carrie down and have her post more than the one necklace she has up there, and we’ll be cooking with gas.

Last weekend was the Puget Sound Bead Festival.

This weekend Carrie is out of town in Canada with the Lovejoy family, leaving me all alone with Fantastico. She’s even taking the dog!

Next weekend Carrie is out of town in California for a wedding, leaving me all alone with Suki & Fantastico.

The weekend after that is my sister’s wedding. Fortunately Carrie will be home for that. Whew!

Whoo! Lotsa stuffs going on during the weekends.

Carrie & I are getting our taxes done this Friday. Ugh. I miss the days when doing taxes took about 37 seconds. Now I’m married, filing jointly, homeowner, W-2 wage earner, with side-business income and expenses, plus Carrie has her own W-2 and her own side business income and expenses. It gets a li’l complicated. I have a bucket (not literally) full of receipts to go through.

Anyhoo, no April Fools Day joke on this site for me. I’ll post the April “Of the Month” stuff later this afternoon.

So the reason there hasn’t been very many updates these past few weeks (other than posting some videos and a review and an article that I’d written a while back) is because I had Jury Duty, which was a very strange experience.  Suffice it to say that I never actually ended up on a jury, but almost ended up on three.  I did read two books and played a bunch on my DS.

Anyhoo, that’s over now, so I can actually get a much better update schedule going here.

So WordPress is all set up. The site is lookin’ pretty much how I want it to, though for some reason I can’t get any twitter widgets to actually work on my sidebar →

There is some legacy code in some of the old pages I ported over, but I’m fine with that for now.  My main navigation links changed, though, so I’m gonna have to go into each of my other sections (Movie Reviews and Articles) and change those templates. 

Here’s something I need, though: any of you out there in the tubes who have a blog AND know me personally, please send me the link for my links page.  This doesn’t count Livejournal or MySpace blogs or things like that.  You can either leave a comment or contact me directly. Help a brotha out!

Also: If anyone was following my RSS feed, you’ll probably have to re-subscribe seeing as how I’ve switched servers AND blogging software.  My feed is prolly all different.  SUBSCRIBE TO MY FEED NOW
