About Us

The new 6th Ave Farmers Market was initiated by the 6th Avenue Neighborhood Business District Association. Knowing of the positive benefits that markets can bring to neighborhoods, the merchants of the Association have been planning a market for several years. The District called on the Tacoma Farmers Market for assistance in developing the new market. Dozens of volunteers from the community have been meeting since the spring to create the concept for the market and to ensure that the atmosphere and vendors reflect the energy of the neighborhood.

Seed money for the new market was provided by the City of Tacoma through the Federation of Tacoma Farmers Markets, a partnership between the Tacoma Farmers Market on Broadway and the Proctor Farmers Market. The goal of the Federation is to create a farmers market culture in the city, transforming our neighborhoods by providing access to fresh, local, healthy food for all Tacomans.
