Good news!

Today I fixed my camera.

This is great for me, and any of you that are anxious to see more (new) photos.

I have the itch, and that means within the next couple of weeks there will be a photo update on the site.

Good times!

School is going really well, and every day I am on campus, I feel like I am in my happy place. Sometimes it's a tad busy and stuff, but honestly - I can not think of much else I would rather be doing this side of being asked to join a reformed My Bloody Valentine and touring Europe.

Ahhhhh... beautiful tennitis. But what a way to go deaf, huh?

A Healthy Dose of Paranoia... Modern Style.

So yesterday was good, met up with a new friend for coffee on campus and then worked on an expressive art project for friday's class. Was an enjoyable and productive afternoon.

I drove home.

I had a burrito, and waited for game 3 of the world series to start, which didn't happen due to a rain out.

I fell asleep at about 10pm and awoke at about 4am.

Wide awake in Amerika when I should be sleeping.

I have a busy day ahead, filled with a field trip and I figured that I might as get my ass up, read some news, get some coffee and get on with the day...

Checked my mail - no mail.

Went to my myspace account and noticed a bulletin from a friend claiming nukes have been used against American targets (read = bases) in Iraq. In the message was a link to another myspace poster's blog with a video of the explosion in question - see it here.

Ok.. now reasonable thinking leads me to the thought that not once is there anykind of visual clue, other than the title of the video proclaiming that this is a nuke or that the target (read = steaming black stretch of earth) is actually American. Now then, I am not well versed in nuclear explosions - and so in my feeble mind I wonder repeatedly about the nature of the explosion - I mean - don't big non-nuclear explosions cause mushroom clouds too? Maybe there is a physicist out there who reads this who can send me an email explaining... in language a non-physicist can understand. Thanks in advance.

All this said - it coulda happened. I just don't know what to believe anymore. Spin is all the difference, and my personal now seems to be the only confirmable reality... no official sources seem to be able to give any straight answers anymore. Everyone has a fucking agenda.

A'ight, so after this I do some reading on the recent passing of the Military Commissions Act by the usual gang of idiots.

(A quick picture comment - doesn't it just look almost like a retarded cowboy version of Resevor Dogs? And by retarded I mean completely fucking stupid. No offense meant to any of my 'differently abled' readers out there... 'cause these dorks make you look like Mensa members.)

Anyway - so I do some reading about this brilliant (and when I say 'brilliant' I mean 'retarded' here.) new act and watch a commentary from Mr. Keith Olbermann regarding said act. He pretty much nails it. As usual.

Hey, can I just say yer new name is Mr. Keith 'Takin' no shit from the man' Olbermann? You, Sir, are a welcome voice of reason. 'Nuff said...

So anyway, at this point I am about as paranoid as if I had consumed 'The Day After', re-read 'The Watchmen' several times, consumed about 75 nodoze, listened to several Skinny Puppy records and hadn't bothered to sleep in the last 72 hours at all.

Can you say, "I remember the 80's?"

A'ight - I know that I am preaching to the converted here buuuuuuut....

Bill Hicks was right.
Hunter S. Thompson was right.
Martin Luther King was right.
John Lennon was right.
Malcolm X was too.
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi as well.
Mother Teresa of Calcutta had the right idea.
Frank Zappa saw it all coming down the pipe...

There are more. Some are remembered names, some are forgotten or marginalized with the grindings of years and inane media rehashing. In this age of fifteen minute sound byte fame culture, where are the heroes? Where is my generation's equivalent? Is the human race so easily sedated and intoxicated by shiny technological trinkets and "reality" tv, that we are able to loose sight of the freedoms that we once as a people held so dear? Sinking away into the distance until it isn't even a half remembered dream anymore? What exactly does happen to a dream deferred?

This makes me a peculiar mix of sad and angry, and it haunts my days when I indulge myself and ponder it. Where is the common sense? Come the fuck on people...

...

So today I went down to the harvest festival on campus. It was alot of fun - there was a great bluegrass/jazz band that was really solid. Also ate some fresh garlic and cheese bread and had apple cider. Had a good time...

Came home and watched the Dodgers/Mets game... grrrrr. My Dodgers are done for the year.

Next year.

Anyway - was a great day except for that last bit.

First week finished (and the ten year scratch)

I just finished my first week's work for my Visualizing Ecology class at the Evergreen State College. I have to say that it (thus far) has been everything I wanted and I am excited to get up to go there every day.

It is nice to feel purpose.
It is nice to meet like minded folks.
It is good to feel like you fit.

I cannot even believe that I was so scared.
Ha.

(oh yeah - new poem up.)

Ok - so let's try this again....

So here it is August -

The summer has been exciting, slow, interesting, beautiful, sweaty, wild at heart and weird on top... yup.

The draw back to this, is that I am working on many things in my head without much physical completion. Which makes me feel a tad lazy...
However - I have been playing a lot of guitar, and singing and writing and stuff - before too awful long there will be new songs and poems and shit up on the site. My camera is still down unfortunately, so pictures for the immediate future will not be updated...

Yeah, it's a drag that I'm working through.

Oh yeah - my Dodgers are kicking ass, and that makes me very very happy. Funny how I have never really cared about sports, but baseball? I love it. Dirt, grass and dreams man.
