Tomorrow is Halloween!

Mummified Mr. Hyde
Scarecrow Still Stuck on Its Post
Cackling Bat
Severed Rat
Phantom Possessed by a Ghost
Vampires
Swamp Creatures
All Things that Menace and Lurk
Devil Dog
Creeping Fog
Putrid Ghoul Caked in Drool
Mad Scientists and Their Work
Grim Reapers
Eye Spiders
Owl
Witch
Goblin and Friend
Red Diablos
Gibdos
Stalfos
Giddy Goons
Empty Pants
Future Blob
Man-Eating Plants
“Them”
All the monsters ‘neath the moon join their awful tentacles
Raise their hard-to-stomach heads and form a Hellish chain
Howl a horrid song, it’s a glorious bad dream
May the whole world sing along
To our 8-Bit Halloween!

Last Saturday was Fools Play Improv‘s annual Halloween spectacular: “Fools Play Trick or Treat!” All the Fools dress up in costume, and we encourage the audience to do the same:
Fools Play Costumes Halloween 2013
From left to right:
Kalum as: The first black astronaut to land on the moon (who was subsequently edited out of all the footage)
Andre as: Casey Jones from TMNT
Josh as: a Sim
Michael as: Huey, Dewy, and Louie pretending to be a completely normal adult
Hilary as: Hipster Ariel
“You” as: a Jack-o-lantern
Me as: A Yip-Yip alien from Sesame street!
I really like the way my costume came out. I don’t think it was the most original idea; I’ve seen photos of other people dressed up in Yip-Yip costumes. Personally I think Mike’s costume was the most creative of them all, but mine was more impressive from a production standpoint.
The Fools Play Audience Halloween Costumers 2013
From left to right:
A very sexy witch
“Happiness” (the emotion)
A woman who is putting herself through veterinary school by stripping in the evenings
Judge Red Devil (a recurring Fools Play character)’s daughter
Herbert I. “Hi” McDunnough from Raising Arizona
A steampunk lady
A crazy doctor
A were-Wolverine
The H.I. McDunnough costume was uncanny, just spot-on, so it won the audience costume contest. The diapers and the pantyhose on the head and everything!
It was a very entertaining show (I thought) and everyone seemed to enjoy it. It was so good to see Hilary there; hadn’t seen her since she had her son a few weeks ago!
Three Ninjas came down and also seemed to have a great time:
LL Cool Threeni
And, weirdly, the Yip-Yip alien seemed to be quite a hit with the ladies:
She-devils love themselves some aliens
Veterinary student strippers love them some alien
And it was a show that was enjoyed by all ages, even babies!
No, that isn’t Hilary’s baby; it’s just a random baby from the audience
Hooray for Halloween! It was a great evening. It will also probably be my last Fools Play for several weeks, what with my own wee beb on the way and all. ^_^
Still no baby! Everything’s ready for her (including us), but no birth over the weekend. Instead, I made a couple of Mix CDs. Yes, actual, physical CDs. Yes, I still do that sometimes, though it has actually been a couple of years since I’ve done so. So because it’s been so long, I decided to make a double-disc. I also threw out my rule about trying to have only one repeat from previous discs (there are a lot of repeats on these).
For this set I just arranged my collection alphabetically by artist and started at the top. I tried not to use more than 2 songs for any given artist chosen. I got down to the “P” artists before I filled up two discs! I fudged the order a couple of times (Julia Massey shouldn’t be on the first disc, for example), but whatever.
So here are the track lists. Wherever possible I tried to link to somewhere where you could download the song, or at least to a place where you can listen to the song. I was actually able to find them all… except for the songs that I wrote myself…
Anyway, enjoy! There are some good stuffs on these: Disc 1
Tangentbot, Three Ninjas, & The Old Salt LIVE! Artwork by Jamie of Modest Comics.
This is a good chance for Seattle peeps to go see some good musics. I recently saw both Three Ninjas and The Old Salt down in Olympia, and that was a good-time show. I haven’t actually seen †∆ϞǤΣƝϯßθ† live in quite a long while; he’s progressed from his older beep-boop music into a darker, more “witch-house” style. It’d be interesting to see.
The show is at The Josephine, which is a strange music venue that is basically just someone’s garage. It’s also BYOB.
Unfortunately the chance of me being able to make this show is almost surely zero, what with wee beb et al. BUT YOU SHOULDST GO!

I surreptitiously took a series of photos of last Saturday’s episode of Fools Play Improv. Then I let Google stitch them together into an animated GIF. The results are comical! Watch as Esa the Periwinkle Fool gets animated (and Josh the Maroon Fool cracks up). I believe he was encountering a bidet in this scene:
Esa’s Animated Bidet Explorations!
Anyway, all y’all should come see Fools Play this Saturday (10/26/13) because it’s our big Halloween show: Fools Play Trick or Treat! There’s an audience costume contest, all the Fools will be in costume, and there’s a bunch of candy and prizes given out!
I might see you there. It kinda depends on when a wee beb happens. Y’know.
