On Saturday I went to the Seattle to go to the album release show for Warren Dunes. As is my fashion, I made some animated .gifs of the festivities:
o yes
Has Sonics Guy seen any photos from this event…?
I also snagged the album! It turns out it’s only a 6-song EP, not a full-length album. What’s the deal with my friends only putting out EPs recently? See Exhibits A, B, C, and now D (this EP that I’m talking about now).
Anyway, it’s pretty great to get these songs in my own grubby mitts after what seems like such a long time. Strangely, it looks like they haven’t actually released this album anywhere online yet(!?). I got it directly from Julia Massey’s hands. But here’s what it looks like:
Welcome to zombo.com. I mean Warren Dunes.
Hopefully you’ll be able to listen to it soon, too!
LIVE FROM WZRD is a talk show hosted by Open Mike Eagle and Dani Fernandez. Shot in the student-run TV studio at East Gatewood Wizarding Community College (a 2-year accredited wizarding school in La Crescenta, CA). LIVE FROM WZRD keeps students and faculty up-to-date while educating the real world on the day-to-day lives of actual wizards, breaking the old Hollywood myths about wizardry and getting real.
The show features on-set segments with celebrity guests and characters from around the school, as well as behind-the-scenes drama, with Mike and Dani finding themselves entangled in dangerous situations in the magical realm of East Gatewood.
You can watch this episode, in which YouTuber/Voice Actor SunWon Cho (AKA ProZD) is brought to the WZRD studio TOTALLY OF HIS OWN FREE WILL, right here!
So now you know that there’s a Wizarding World in East Gatewood. We all knew Mike was a lyrical wizard (*sad trombone*), but now we know he’s an actual wizard!
Very exciting! After a long-ish gestation, the first trailer for Open Mike Eagle & Baron Vaughn’s new comedy/variety show on Comedy Central is here! It’s called The New Negroes (which is a reference to the Harlem Renaissance of the 1910s & 1920s) and you can watch the trailer here.
I’m so excited for Mike! This show looks to be a mix of standup, music, and maybe some bizarre sketch-comedy stuff, judging from a few quick clips like this one where someone emerges from Mike’s mouth:
dat mouf…
Here are some more interesting screenshots that I pulled from the trailer. Let the speculation begin!

The New Negroes premieres on Comedy Central on Friday, April 19th. I’ll have to find a way to watch it since we’re a cord-cutted family!
Warren Dunes had a show last week in Seattle where they released… a new single, not a new album. Alas, we’ll have to wait until 2019 until a full album graces our ears. In the meantime, here’s the single they released: “What Did You Find Out?” (LIVE at Hoot House Recording). Listen and enjoy!
Now you have enjoyed! A congratulations has happening for you!
Hey. Listen. LISTEN! I know that this very song was my Wednesday Listening Pleasure back in March. But Warren Dunes didn’t have a music video for the song back then! Also, they especially did not have a music video that was directed by my good friend (and non-incidentally bandmate in The Crazy Boy Floyds and retired Yellow Fool in Fools Play Improv) Geoff Gibbs. HERE IT IS (I bet you didn’t think I’d actually show it to you after that, but whysoever would you think that, you should know me better). Partake and enjoy!
