For Your Wednesday Listening Pleasure: “Unfiltered” by Open Mike Eagle & Danny Brown

Open Mike Eagle & Danny Brown: Unfiltered

Danny got filtered through Mikes mouf…

Hey, howcome Mike Eagle is the Wednesday Listening Pleasure two weeks in a row? Well, son, it’s because he just keeps on a-puttin’ out musics!

This time it’s the debut clip from his upcoming (premieres this Friday, April 19th!) Comedy Central series, The New Negroes, in which the expressive Danny Brown lives inside of the repressed Mike Eagle and spouts the things Mike only wishes he could say. It’s very funny. You can take a look/listen here!

Short and hilarious. Good work, fellas!

Be sure to watch The New Negroes when it premieres on Comedy Central this Friday!

For Your Wednesday Listening Pleasure: “Every Single Thing” by Open Mike Eagle

Open Mike Eagle: Every Single Thing

What’s in your box of meaning…?

Open Mike Eagle recently released a new video for the song “Every Single Thing” off of his EP What Happens When I Try to Relax (another EP!). In it, a man played by Tracy Kernell gathers and burns a “box of meaning” over another stunning, clever, angry, and beautifully lyrical Open Mike Eagle song.

Seriously, how can Mike keep on putting out music that’s so good?

Don’t forget that Mike’s Comedy Central Show, The New Negroes, premieres on April 19th! Also he has a webseries currently running called Live from WZRD. Also he’s pretty much completely awexome.

Open Mike Eagle Burns Shovel Knight

Not Shovel Knight. NOT SHOVEL KNIGHT! IT SHOULD’VE BEEN ME!!

Hey, folks, Warren Dunes (featuring Julia Massey) is finally FINALLY releasing their first album, appropriately entitled Welcome to Warren Dunes. To celebrate that fact, they recently released a new single from said album. It’s called “What Are We Waiting For” although there’s no question mark so I guess it’s a statement rather than a question? You can listen to it here.

Also to celebrate the release of the album, Warren Dunes is having, appropriately, an album release show! This Saturday night! With Cumulus and AIAIA!

For Your Wednesday Listening Pleasure: “Awesome Girl” by Dudez A-Plenti

Awesomeness is awesome, babe, but not like you…

Awesomeness is awesome, babe, but not like you…

Earlier this week Conan O’Brien released a new website, CONAN25, which contains the entirety of the “remote” segments from Conan’s extensive late-night career. There are some absolute gems in there; Picking Apples with Mr. T is one of my all-time favorites.

To celebrate the ability to watch this much television history, here is Conan’s own boy band, Dudez A-Plenti, rehearsing and creating a music video for their smash-hit song “Awesome Girl.”

Have some awesome juice on me, baby. And be sure to comb through these archives because it’s full of comedy gold!

For Your Wednesday Listening Pleasure: “Oopsies” by Kristen Bell & Bob Mervak

…oopsies…

…oopsies…

As Kristen Bell explains (yes that Kristen Bell, AKA Veronica Mars AKA Princess Anna) explains on her Instagram:

My best friend @bobmervak is pure magic. This gem started as a little tune he created with my 3 year old daughter in our living room and has now grown into a full symphonic masterpiece. I am in constant awe of his gift and feel so lucky to know this walking reminder of the power of music. Recording this was some of the most fun I’ve had as a grown up. This delight is now available for your 👂 on iTunes, Spotify, YouTube, anywhere you get your music.

Are you not pleased?

For Your Wednesday Listening Pleasure: “Sunflower” by Post Malone & Swae Lee

Callin' it quits now, baby I'm a wreck…

Callin’ it quits now, baby I’m a wreck…

From the excellent Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (my review is here), this opening song quite well encapsulates the feel of Miles Morales and his transformation into the titular hero. Spoiler warning, though: the video includes footage from pretty much all parts of the movie and gives quite a bit of the plot away. Partake and be pleased:

YOU ARE NOW PLEASED.

For Your Wednesday Listening Pleasure: Celeste Original Soundtrack

Celeste is actually the name of the mountain, not the protagonist…

Celeste is actually the name of the mountain, not the protagonist…

Part of what made Celeste perhaps the best video game of 2018 (if not the best, certainly one of the best) was its amazing soundtrack, composed by Lena Raine. It’s moody, creepy, exciting, and dreamy, often simultaneously (or at least in close proximity). Here is a YouTubez playlist of the entire soundtrack, posted by Lena Raine herself.

It pleases me! Now it pleases you, too!
