On this, the Halloweenth Day of Halloween, please partake and enjoy some delights to watch and listen to, courtesy of some awexome peoples. Try not to get so scared that you might die of scares and fears that you might die.
Greatest American homestar:
Here is pupped Homestar singing a Halloween-ish version of the best TV show theme song of ALL TIME!
Open Mike Eagle and Video Dave in #DeadAss Episode 8: Halloween Special
Open Mike Eagle (and more importantly, VIDEO DAVE) are still on an independent rap tour (or they were when this episode was made). In this very scary episode, Video Dave makes them some pizzas with a special ingredient and then go to a mall and whoops craziness!
Oh, also Mike released a brand-new, exclusive Halloween-ish song that might not be here if you’re reading this anytime in the future:
The Crazy Boy Floyds: 8-Bit Halloween
Here is perhaps the greatest Halloween EP ever released, four songs of scares and fears that you might die!
Spirit Shrine: ghostslikeshadows
Here’s another very spooky song by the very spooky Spirit Shrine!
Trevor Peach: Hallowwon’t
And here we have a very un-spooky and rather depressing song from the Lord of Emo, none other than Trevor Peach!
Nerdic Public Radio: Halloween Edition
Finally, here is an episode of Nerdic Public Radio, the very strange radio station run by very oddly-accented folks who really ultimately have no idea what they’re doing. But it’s very funny!
And that’s that. Happy Halloweens, my everyones!
P.S. Jack-o-Lanterns designed by my 3-year-old daughter.
SPIRIT ▲ SHRINE (formerly Tangentbot, and formerly Tangent before that) hasn’t released any new music in over a year, but that changed yesterday with a new song: “diavolo discoteca.” Listen here:
I really enjoy it. I like its laid-backedness, and I love the instrumentation with the buzzy synths. Plus it’s catchy. It reminds me a bit of David Grellier.
I’ve been listening to a ton of italo disco stuff and i wanted to write something a bit faster, yet still my personal style. i know it’s been awhile but i love you and your mom loves you and we just want to see you be happy. we are proud of you.
As threatened, last Saturday night after Fools Play I went to Le Voyeur to watch my friends do the musics. As is my nature, I made some animated .GIFs of the evening.
Y’know, perhaps animated .GIFs of DJ sets aren’t the most exciting, eh?
After SPIRIT▴SHRINE came Urban Fantasy, a keyboardist and rapper. This was their first-ever live public performance. They explained that they usually have a third member, but she wasn’t there because she was suffering from “the consumption” like you get in the Oregon Trail video game. That was funny. I didn’t get a .GIF of them.
At the end of their set my friend @KowaiHitsuji excused herself to the restroom to get ready for WINDOWSNINETYFIVESECONDEDITION‘s set, which she was going to take part in. When she left @extropic_engine turned to me and asked if I was aware of what getting ready entailed. I said I didn’t, and he urged me to wait and see.
When @KowaiHitsuji emerged from the restroom she was dressed thusly:
That’s not a Creepy Sheep, it’s a Totoro!
And it was thusly that she performed with WINDOWSNINETYFIVESECONDEDITION:
Sing me a song, Totoro.
As usual, Le Voyeur and its audience was its own weird self, but I enjoyed to see this show. I don’t think they’re performing again until September sometime (you can look at my calendar to see updates about that).
So this Saturday night there is a musics show in Olympia featuring a couple of my friends. First off we have my friend Tangentbot performing his SPIRIT▴SHRINE project (Dark Electronica).
Then we also have Tangentbot teaming up with my pal Extropic Engine as WINDOWSNINETYFIVESECONDEDITION (Ambient Industrial).
Here’s a SPIRIT▴SHRINE track for your listening pleasure:
They’ll be joined by a couple of other music acts: Urban Fantasy (hip-hop/synth-pop) and Kim Jong Illin’ (solo acoustic crust punk).
I am so totally going to go to this show. I know what you’re thinking: but Chris Harris the Purple Fool, this musics show is on a Saturday night! You won’t be able to go because you always perform at Fools Play on Saturday nights.
Well, you’re WRONG. Okay, you’re right about the fact that I’ll be performing at Fools Play this Saturday night. But this musics show doesn’t start until 10:00 PM, which just so happens to be when Fools Play ends! So I’ll be peforming at Fools Play and then booking it the two or three blocks up the street to Le Voyeur to watch some musics happen in front of my very eyes and earses!
SO CAN YOU!

Originally The Old Salt was going to be a part of WINDOWSNINETYFIVESECONDEDITION’s set, but I believe he’s going to have to miss it because he’ll be up in Bellingham being naked onstage in a play. You know how it is.
There are SO many movies coming out in 2014 that I really wanna see in the theater. Way more than in 2013. I’ve already seen a whole bunch as evidenced by my review output in the past couple of months. And I’m already three whole reviews behind! And I’m gonna go see another movie (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) on Wednesday night! YIKES!
Here’s just a brief list:
The Lego Movie
Under the Skin
The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Maleficent
Edge of Tomorrow
Guardians of the Galaxy
Trust Me
Jupiter Ascending
Lucy
Sin City: A Dame to Kill For
Snowpiercer
Let’s Be Cops
This also looks to be an excellent Summer for live musics, with shows coming up from a bunches of excellenté musicians. Here is just a brief list:
