Gasp! 'Tis true!

Gasp! ‘Tis true!

ThinkGeek is right now offering fine-art canvas prints of four classic Nintendo Entertainment System video game boxes:

  • Super Mario Bros.
  • The Legend of Zelda
  • Metroid
  • Duck Hunt

You can get a closer look at them in this li’l 30-second ad that ThinkGeek threw together in like two seconds:

Good gods, these would be amazing to have hanging up in an entertainment/gaming room of some sort. <sarcasm>Y’know, one of those extra rooms that you just have lying around your house.</sarcasm>

And though I absolutely adore the Legend of Zelda box art, I kinda wished they’d gone with a different game that fit the same aesthetic as the other three. It looks outta place. Maybe something like Excitebike? Or Kung Fu?

Product Specifications:

  • Classic NES Box Art – Exclusive Canvas Art
  • Officially-licensed Nintendo merchandise
  • A ThinkGeek exclusive
  • Original NES box art printed on canvas
  • Materials: Canvas and pressboard
  • Dimensions: 19″ x 13″ x 3/4″

What Video Game Will Be Played Live on Stage at Fools Play Speed Run?

Which will it be?

Which will it be?

THIS WEEKEND (1/30)!! Fools Play Improv is performing a really hilarious show that involves a bunch of improvised comedy scenes, as well as one of the Fools (spoiler: it me) playing and attempting to beat a classic video game live on stage between the scenes.

But which game will Fools Play choose this weekend? They’ve narrowed it down to five choices, and have made some videos that give you more information about each game full of historically inaccurate “facts” and half-truths and heaping loads of misinformation. Enjoy!

Super Mario Bros.:

The Legend of Zelda:

Ghosts N Goblins:

Mega Man 2:

But you’ll have to come to downtown Tacoma on Saturday night to find out which one I’ll be forced to struggle to beat for your amusement!

Happy Hween 2012!

Hello, everyone! Today is my favorite holiday of them all, Halloween!

This was my first Halloween in which I actually owned my own sewing machine, so I went for a much more ambitious sewing project than usual. After looking around the internets for a few minutes trying to find a good template or instructional video, I figured out how to sew the head of my costume. Here is my costume for Hween 2012!

It's a-me! A Mushroom!

Super Mario Mushroom coming out of a Question Block

Just by happenstance the cardboard box I chose to be the Question Block ended up being 16″ × 16″ and the original Super Mario sprite for the Question Block just happens to be 16 pixels × 16 pixels. So I just made a one-inch grid on the backs of a big piece of orange and a big piece of black paper, and cut out all the shapes for the question mark and shadows. Easy-peasy!

Continuing with the same Super Mario theme, here are my punkins for Hween 2012:

It's a Shy Boo Punkin!

The Big Boo punkin is so shy when you’re looking at him!

But when you look away, Big Boo punkin is gonna getchoo!

But when you look away, Big Boo punkin is gonna getchoo!

I was not, of course, the only person to have a costume. On Saturday night Fools Play had its annual Halloween Show, and the whole cast was all costumed-up:

Lookit all dem Fools!

And, finally, here is Baman Piderman’s Halloween episode, “Ghost Night!” Enjoy!

Happy Hween E’rybody!

Northwest Pinball & Gameroom Expo 2011

Last weekend I went to the Northwest Pinball & Gameroom Expo 2011 with my brother and Neighbor Gary. It’s a very cool event, which you can learn more about at their Website.

I took photos of the games that I played/enjoyed the most while I was there. Click on a photo for more info about that particular machine!

When Mario Meets Ikea – The Best Furniture EVAR

A couple made this Mario furniture for their apartment (she’s a mechanical engineer, which probably helped). Look at the Warp Pipe end table, too!
