Merry Christmas Eve Eve 2015
Merry Christmas Eve Eve from me and Totoro!
And, of course, Mary Christmas Eve Eve from Paul & Storm, the only musicians to my knowledge who have written a song about Christmas Eve Eve:
Merry Christmas Eve Eve from me and Totoro!
And, of course, Mary Christmas Eve Eve from Paul & Storm, the only musicians to my knowledge who have written a song about Christmas Eve Eve:
I know, I know, I’m not supposed to post baby stuff on this website (I’m supposed to post it on THIS website instead), but you’ll have to indulge me this weekend because:
So here were our Halloween Costumes for 2014!
Yes! I cut and sewed a tiny Totoro costume! It even has a zipper running up the back to the top of the hood. I’d never sewed anything with a zipper before! We took her to Zoo Boo in this costume and it was completely adorbs. If you don’t know who Totoro is, (A) Shame on you! And (B) look it up. Trust me, it’s great.
Carrie made the tutu, and I embroidered the pumpkin on the black onesie (using a very fancy Brother XV8500D Embroidery Machine at my work), and Carrie made the embellishments on the witch hat. Collaboration at it’s finest!
We decided quite a while ago that it would be pretty durned cute to dress Avery up as a witch for Halloween. One of the main reasons is because she has such an excellent witch’s cackle! Just listen:
See? Perfect for a wee cacklin’ witch!
It has always been a dream of mine to make a working video game for my costume, and this year I finally figured it out. I made a working version of the classic game “Combat” for the Atari 2600! It’s pretty sweet. Here it is in action:
Carrie is not big on dressing up in costumes, but we did get her to put on a matching witch hat (and she was wearing a black dress), so that counts, right?
And just for funsies, here’s the punkin I carved this year:
HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Can’t wait for next year.
As threatened, last Saturday night after Fools Play I went to Le Voyeur to watch my friends do the musics. As is my nature, I made some animated .GIFs of the evening.
First off was my friend Tangentbot performing his SPIRIT▴SHRINE project. Take a look!
Y’know, perhaps animated .GIFs of DJ sets aren’t the most exciting, eh?
After SPIRIT▴SHRINE came Urban Fantasy, a keyboardist and rapper. This was their first-ever live public performance. They explained that they usually have a third member, but she wasn’t there because she was suffering from “the consumption” like you get in the Oregon Trail video game. That was funny. I didn’t get a .GIF of them.
At the end of their set my friend @KowaiHitsuji excused herself to the restroom to get ready for WINDOWSNINETYFIVESECONDEDITION‘s set, which she was going to take part in. When she left @extropic_engine turned to me and asked if I was aware of what getting ready entailed. I said I didn’t, and he urged me to wait and see.
When @KowaiHitsuji emerged from the restroom she was dressed thusly:
And it was thusly that she performed with WINDOWSNINETYFIVESECONDEDITION:
As usual, Le Voyeur and its audience was its own weird self, but I enjoyed to see this show. I don’t think they’re performing again until September sometime (you can look at my calendar to see updates about that).

I am in awe of Suami, the Vietnamese artist who crochets tiny things. I mean tiny. Here is the tiniest Totoro:
Yes, that is a human finger upon which the tiniest Totoro is standing. Look at your own finger. Look at your fingernail. Imagine a Totoro about that size, maybe a little smaller. Now image crocheting that.
Like I said. I’m in awe.
Suami has a bunch of other tiny crocheted designs (though Totoro is clearly the best), and they’re all available in an etsy shop! You can actually own the tiniest Totoro!

A while back Carrie discovered something at a pet store that struck her as being incredibly familiar… and rather odd. It appeared to be a hot-pink, Totoro-shaped dog toy:
Needless to say she HAD to purchase it and bring it home. Who can resist a hot-pink Totoro? Especially one that has a squeaker in its head!?
Suki seems to be rather fond of Totoro:
And who can blame her? It is a great movie. And now, a great, unofficial, bootleg dog toy.
