For Your Wednesday Listening Pleasure: “Helpless (Hamildrop)” by The Regrettes
I do I do I do I do I do I do really like this cover…
Can you tell what kind of music kick I’m on right now? Go look back through my last few Wednesday Listening Pleasures and you might notice a pattern. The Regrettes, THICK, Tacocat, (and Phoebe Masteller-Defiance a while back)… I think your boy Chris is jonesing for some good Riot Grrrl pretty bad!
To cure what ails me, here are the Regrettes with “Helpless” for you to partake and enjoy:
Yes, it’s a cover of a Hamilton song! And it sounds COMPLETELY DIFFERENT, which can often be my favorite type of cover. I love it when a band takes a song and completely reworks it in their own style like this. This is part of the “Hamildrops” series where Lin Manuel Miranda et al commissioned covers/reworks of a bunch of Hamilton songs by a bunch of different artists. It was a clever idea that paid off in spades!
I like what I’ve heard of The Regrettes. And they’re all babies; the lead singer is only 18, so hopefully they continue pumping out music for a good long while. At any rate you have now been pleasured.
